Instead of New Years Resolutions, which I’ve never particularly been a fan of, I’ve decided to do a new 101 things in 1001 days list. I have done this at least once before, back in my old LiveJournal days, I will see if I can find the old list to dig out (note: have found, although it’s in a protected LiveJournal post, need to have a proper read and see if I want to make it public?). That last list was dated 11th August 2006 to 1st December 2008 (which is a nice finishing point I think). Funny to think last time I did this I couldn’t drive, didn’t have our own house and had zero kids!

I have been putting together my new list on https://dayzeroproject.com but I’m not keen on their formatting and in the interest of saving money (rather than going premium with them at this time) I think I will just html it up on here.

I started this list with a lot of “read 10 classic books” kind of goals, but looking at it I realise I need to make them SMART goals, else I just won’t do them. What I am going to do is modify them with more information as I go along and try and make lists for some of the things. I also want to try and do monthly updates on my goals, so I keep at them and keep them in mind

Reasons to do a 101 things in 1001 days

  • It’s a good chunk of time to do a long term goal (almost 3 years)
  • Writing down long term goals can help you to keep them in mind
  • Writing them down makes you accountable (especially if you share on your blog!)
  • You can contribute to the Day Zero Project community and feel like you are part of a team, the achievements page is so sweet
  • Repeating actions make them become habits, so make some of your goals things that you should be doing anyway (flossing and drinking water I totally should have put on mine, darn!)
